Yaram Presents Diabel Cissokho LIVE in the UK
12th - 20th October 2018
Senegalese musician Diabel Cissokho, part of the great line of Cissokho griots. Growing up in Dakar and Tambacounda, surrounded by a rich musical heritage and a family of musicians, Diabel started playing a number of traditional instruments at a very tender age with the watchful eyes of his family.
However, Diabel’s affinity with the Kora was clear from start with his exceptional musical pedigree, Diabel is among the new generation of modernisers of the ancient African Harp to meet the 21st Century’s Diasporas demand that brings audiences an electrifying blend of AfronManding fusion and tantalising traditional West African rhythms stem from the roots of the vibrant cultures of Senegal.
International tours with his family’s band Bannaya led to a long stint as Baaba Maal’s Kora player, as well as with acclaimed musicians such as Kandia Kouyate, Pee Wee Ellis, Omar Pene, Cheikh Lo, Ernest Ranglin and Youssou Ndour.
2018 Cultural Week
24 - 26 August 2018
The King of African Music; the Senegalese Superstar Youssou Ndour will deliver a unique one-off show in London this August, alongside his band Super Etoile de Dakar.
The Grande Bal will largely be an undiluted Mbalax soiree drawing on some of the best dance songs from his spectacular repertoire, built over 40 years of live performances and studio recordings.
Youssou Ndour is not only an accomplished cultural icon but plays a pivotal role in global geopolitics. He mounted a very vocal campaign for the release of Nelson Mandela at the height of the anti-apartheid struggle. In his musical performances at global concerts for Amnesty International, and his role as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, the musical icon continues to champion progressive global causes in Africa and the world, highlighting the plight of Africa’s marginalised peoples.
Youssou will perform at Indigo for one night only, in what will be a truly magical night of African music and dance; in a uniquely Dakar-Banjul like setting.

Sona Jobarteh is Africa’s first female griot kora virtuoso, and also a fine singer and composer, blending traditional music, blues and Afropop to impressive effect. Sona has toured the UK with Yaram on two occasions the latest of which was in June 2018. We look forward to many more in the near future
